Well knit 1 row, purl 1 row and you get a pretty stockinette stitch. Knit only and you get a garter stitch.
I bought the needles a couple of months ago and attempted knitting and for some reason tried continental but it wouldn’t work, then a more experience knitter/crocheter suggested I try throwing. Turns out she was right. My left hand just would not do what I wanted it to do to knit because it knew what it should do when it crochets stuff so the trick was to use my right hand.
And because I am totally crazy instead of practicing until I feel confident enough, I know I will probably pick a project, buy all the needle sizes I can find and just jump right in.
Check out everyone else’s creative spaces this week.
oooh you’ve started knitting now! Yay!way to go!
Yes it was about time, sewing is next 🙂
So good to see you joining in with the creative space! Happy Ramadan to you too! xxx
Happy Ramadan! I’ve been lurking and checking out everyone’s links but didn’t feel ready to join in until I had this blog up.
Ooh, congrats on starting knitting. 🙂 The hardest thing for me was learning to cast on. I throw too, I cannot knit continental at all (and I knit right handed, oddly enough, even though I crochet left handed).
If you alternate a yarn over with a knit 2 together you will get eyelets. 🙂
And if you slip 2 stitches and then knit them together you will get a decrease leaning the other way.
It is good to know I am not the only one who has hands that won’t listen to my head :-).
I am still practicing knits and purls I’ll try the slip stitches, it is all so interesting
