I managed to sneak in a visit to one of my favorite yarn shops in Alexandria, Egypt last week.
It is called Cristal and it looks like it belongs back in the 50s.
See for yourself.
Yes they really use that antique register.
I love the place. The sales people are so helpful and friendly and I usually look at lots of different things before deciding on what I eventually buy. You can also find the greatest Egyptian cotton yarn and thread at really cool prices too. I can’t find enough cotton and 100%wool in Kuwait, and when I do it is usually expensive.
They are located at 8 El Tahreer Sq. Al Mansheya, Alexandria. Tel: 4809375. They don’t work on Sundays. If you are in the area, you really should try and visit. And then when you are done, walk along and visit Faransa street and Zan’et el Setat where you can buy fabric, buttons and jewelry all while getting a taste of a totally different culture.

Thanks for the address, knew the area but not this shop. Looks the same, fully stocked, good prices, friendly staff. Open by owner’s father in 1939. Wish them many more successful years!
Hi dear
Nice to know someone who loves crochet and knitting in Kuwait.
I love crochet too and looking for opportunities that make my work matter.
Thanks.
